This position would work out of our Middlefield location that includes a retail hardware store, lumber yard and building materials.

About the Position: The General Manager is responsible for the complete day-to-day operation of the store, building materials sales, lumber yard, and lumber yard/delivery operations. This includes maximizing store, retail and professional building material sales, and profitability and minimizing expenses while ensuring that the entire operation is optimally stocked and merchandised and that each customer has an exceptional experience. The General Manager will be a leader, problem solver, calculated risk taker, and must manage his/her time to achieve budget results. Ultimately, they must be detail oriented and handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Responsibilities: -Lead by example in providing exceptional customer service. -Hire, train and develop professional team members in both the building materials and retail side of the business for growth and success in their positions. -Provide ongoing performance feedback and recognize accomplishments for all team members. -Coordinate the overall supervision of professional building materials and retail team to ensure sales performance goals are met and procedures are followed accurately. -Respond immediately to any customer complaints and find resolutions quickly. -Keep the retail sales floor properly maintained and stocked by implementing company directives such as key assortments, plan-o-grams, seasonal items, promotional displays, pricing updates, and end caps. -Day to day management of building materials ,lumber yard, delivery, and receiving operations. -Drive store sales and profit to exceed expected budget goals. -Understand the dynamics that impact the financial performance of the business as a whole (building materials and retail sales) and remain accountable to results that meet or exceed company objectives. -Ensure that the retail store and building materials division keeps proper amounts of inventory on hand, sufficient to meet customers' needs, but in line with inventory goals. -Ensure that inventory is maintained in a clean and orderly fashion, consistent with company policy and good business practices both in the lumber yard and on the retail sales floor. -Be instrumental in recruiting, selecting, and training key talent. -Provide an enjoyable working environment that is conducive to employee success and overall morale.

Essential Qualifications: -A minimum of 3 years of professional building and retail management experience. -Possess a vast knowledge of lumber, building materials, and hardware related products along with a willingness to learn. -Thorough knowledge of residential remodeling and new construction from framing through roofing. -Thorough knowledge of operation of lumber yard including delivery ,dispatch, and inventory maintenance. -Demonstrated ability to form, lead and develop high-performing teams in both professional building materials and retail sales divisions. -Ability to work collaboratively across departmental functions. -Experience in analyzing business performance within a building product and retail environment is ideal. -Excellent communication and leadership skills are mandatory.
